Abstract: Nowadays the prothrombin complex concentrates are one of the main terapeutic options to stop or prevent bleending in spontaneous life-threatening haemorrhage or prior to emergency surgery in some special patients. These productes are inactivated clotting factors II, VII, IX and X. They are indicated in patients with acquired or hereditary vitamin K dependent factors, for the rapid reversal of oral anticoagulation with coumarins, in patients with consumption cuagulopathy or with severe liver failure. Thus, PCC had 3 advantages over fresh frozen plasma: 1- a much lower risk of transferring infectious diseases particularly hepatitis and HIV, 2- a immediately and more effective reversal of anticoagulation, and 3- a smaller infusion volume. A potential and important drawback of PCC is his association with thromboembolism, especially in patients with hepatic dysfunction, newborns or high and a right indication and dose. It was necesary to implement some guidelines for the use of these products.
