Authors: Maciel M E, Duranona K B

Abstract: Agranulocytosis is a rare clinical syndrome characterized by neutrophil counts below 500/mm3, associated with severe infectious manifestations. The most common causes are associated with drugs, representing two thirds of them. One of the toxic causes is cocaine adulterated with levamisole. We report the case of a patient diagnosed with acquired agranulocytosis. The possible etiologies are discussed.

Key words: agranulocytosis, levamisole, sulfathiazole, collagenopathies.
