Abstract: Cytogenetic abnormalities are detected in nearly
50% of adult patients with acute myeloid leukemia
at diagnosis. This finding is important for prognosis
and classification.
Trisomy 4 is a rare cytogenetic abnormality, present
in only 1 % of abnormal karyotypes.
We report a 39 years old woman with a diagnosis of
acute myeloid leukemia, a chromosome 4 trisomy
and blasts of peculiar appearance -with intracytoplasmic
vacuoles- in blood and bone marrow.
Key words: acute myeloid leukemia,
chromosome 4 trisomy,
