Therapeutic use of granulocyte transfusion in a
pediatric patient with orbital and periorbital cellulitis.

Abstract: Granulocyte transfusion is considered an appropriate
therapy in patients with serious infections and
severe neutropenia, with poor response to antimicrobial
treatment. Clinical studies conducted over
the years have shown controversies regarding indications,
doses, frequency of administration and therapeutic
response. In this article we report a pediatric
patient with bicytopenia, fever and a documented
severe infection who received drug treatment and
granulocyte transfusion therapy, developing successfully.
