Abstract: Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) is a subtype of
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) that has clinical and
biologic caractheristics. The real incidence is unknown,
with a different frequency according geographic areas.
While in the United States and Europe (except Italy and
Spain) the incidence ranges are 5-7% of patients with
AML, its frequency in Latin America is almost 20%.
The purpose of our report is analyzed the results of the
GATLA Pediatric Protocol BFM - LPA- 07. In pediatric
APL, Argentine Republic has an annual incidence increased
of 8.2 new cases per year, reported to GATLA. This
frequency is similar to BFM group that reported between
8 and 10 new cases / year. The Overall Survival (OS) and
Event Free Survival (EFS) are comparable to those published
by other groups.
