Abstract: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is the most frequent
malignant disease in childhood. With current treatment, global event free survival (EFS) over 80 % can be achieved. Treatment is based on combined chemotherapy
and it is associated to multiple adverse effects. We discuss a 4 year old girl who presents L-asparginase associated
acute necrotizing pancreatitis as asevere adverse effect during Induction phase, which evolves to the formation
of a pseudocyst.
A review on pharmacological properties of this drug and its complications is also presented.
