Abstract: The isolated myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a form of the
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), also known as extramedullary
myeloid tumor or ‘cloroma’. It usually appears
in the bone and it is not generally found in other parts
of the body. Most patients usually develop AML soon
after having acquired this tumor. A 15-year-old male
patient shows symptoms of intestinal obstruction and
presents an abdominal mass. A biopsy is performed and
both the pathology and immunohistochemistry diagnose
MS. Nevertheless, neither the blood analysis nor the
bone-marrow test reveal any traces of AML. Treatment
is started following the GATLA 8-LMA-07 protocol.

Accurately diagnosing MS is the necessary prerequisite
to both determine what the prognosis will be and to be
able to start chemotherapy as soon as possible with a
view to reducing the leukaemic risk.”
