Abstract: Congenital and acquired thrombophilic states had
been reported as related to several early and late pregnancy
complications. This article analizes this association,
not necessarily causal. Indications for screening are also
discussed as well as the implications for therapy with
low molecular weight heparin and aspirin to prevent
recurrencies in future pregnancies. Evidence based medicine
is crucial to aid in the correct prophylaxis of these
situations that bring justified anxiety in the families and
the health team involved.
