Abstract: A group of seven Argentine hematologists of reckoned
experience in the chronic myeloid leukemia therapy
participated of a consent meeting held in July 2007 with the
purpose of detailing the use of health resources in the
management of such disease in the country. By applying
the modified Delphi method it was reached a high degree
of agreement among the specialists who expressed the real
situation of the clinical practice in the different regions and
health care centers where they develop their practices. It
resulted evident the important adherence to the therapeutic
guidelines recommended at an international level as well
as the optimization of the available health care attention
resources. This information complemented with additional
pharmacoeconomic studies may result useful to define
future plans of integral sanitary assistance that allow
patients with CML reach the most convenient options from
the clinical point of view and the cost-effective relation in
order to improve not only the survival rate but also their
quality of life.
